Overview
The grapes are grown in the vineyard of La Rocca, which takes its name from the adjacent Medieval castle and fortress (la rocca) that dominate the little town of Soave, just east of Verona. The vineyard lies on the face of the hill above the casetello. Pieropan picks the grapes late, towards the end of October and sometimes as late as the beginning of November, they are the last grapes left on the vine in the region. They are Pieropan's most prized grapes.

Wine Spectator - June 2008 - Vintage 2005 - 92 pts
Soave Classico La Rocca 2005 - Golden in color, with a late-harvest nose. Very ripe, like a Meursault from a top vintage. Full and superrich, with apple tart, tropical fruit and cream character. Fresh and crisp on the finish. Layered and impressive. Drink now
The Wine Advocate - Robert Parker - 92 points
The 2006 Soave Classico La Rocca is 100% Garganega picked late and aged in French oak. This richly-textured, utterly engaging Soave flows from the glass in grand style as ripe, succulent peaches, mint, minerals and sweet toasted oak come together in a wine of unusual elegance and sheer pedigree. The wine shows superb depth on the palate, with lingering notes of sweetness on the finish. This classy Soave will benefit from another year or so in bottle, and although this bottling has proven to age, I would nevertheless prefer to enjoy it relatively young. This is a gem from Pieropan. Anticipated Maturity: 2009-2012
