Overview
Grappa is the most ancient and traditional distillate of Northern Italy, obtained by distilling the solid parts of grape pomace. Monovitigno means one varietal. This grappa is therefore obtained from 100% Merlot grapes, carefully selected and distilled. Distillation is discontinuous with both head and tail cut off, performed in steam stills created by Nonino. Distillation is slow to allow evaporation and condensation of the volatile components which are responsible for the olfactory characteristics of the grappa. The grappa spends 6 mos. resting prior to bottling. For more infomation about the process of distillation please visit the Nonino website.

The flavor succulently sweet and stunningly ripe and compelling. The aftertaste is seemingly infinite, grapy and concentrated. A sinewy grappa that is more elegant than powerful.
