Overview
From Marchesi di Barolo’s extensive holding, representing almost two thirds of the splendid Cannubi single-vineyard. It is considered by some to be the source of the finest Barolos of all. The Cannubi vineyard is located on the steep, south- and east-facing slopes around the town of Barolo. The terrains of the Hill of the Cannubi consist of an amalgamation of soils of the Helvetian and Tortonian periods that is characteristic of the Barolo zone. Because of the substantial content of fine sand, a fundamental element of the land’s fertility, and the looseness of the soil, in combination with a large amount of limestone, the vineyards are particularly adapted to the production of wines of an extremely elevated level of quality.

Wine Spectator 2008 - James Suckling - 90 points
Aromas of crushed blackberry, with plum and hints of walnut, lead to a full-bodied palate, with silky yet chewy tannins and a berry and chocolate aftertaste.
