Speri

Veneto

One of the historical families in Valpolicella, Speri is an important and faithful exponent of the wines of the Valpolicella Classica zone, which can now boast of being in its seventh generation.  The company’s history began in the first half of the nineteenth century, with just a few hectares next to the Speris’ family home.  Over the course of the years, the company has invested in new properties in the top-quality areas of Valpolicella Classica, so that it now owns 60 hectares.  Times have changed and the company has grown, but it still remains in the hands of the family, that controls every phase of production, from the vine to the bottle.  With due respect for their region’s heritage, the Speris have always cultivated just the indigenous varieties of the Valpolicella zone (Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Molinara and other indigenous varieties). The production is concentrated on 5 types of classical wines (exclusively DOC and DOCG wines): the family maintained intact over time its identity with a recognizable coherence and integrity of style, where elegance and territory are the rallying points.  They also vinify grapes exclusively from their own vineyards and control the entire production process. In order to highlight the particular characteristics of each site, the grapes from each vineyard are vinified separately, thus yielding the Crus such as La Roverina, Monte Sant’Urbano and La Roggia, which are named after their vineyards of origin.
