Bruno Rocca
Piemonte
Bruno Rocca is at the forefront of quality production of Italy’s legendary Barbaresco. In fact he is credited with creating softer, more readily drinkable Barbaresco in a style that can compete with Barolo. He took over a small seven hectare farm in 1978. Most of his property is situated in the famous vineyard called Rabajà (rah-bye-ya) in the town of Barbaresco. This is renown as the choicest vineyard for Barbaresco. He also has holdings in Neive where he grows Chardonnay and Barbera. Bruno is a modernist, which is to say that he makes modern styled Barbaresco by incorporating new techmological advances that enhance viticulture and winemaking. He has experimented extensively with different types of French oak and has perfected a balance which promotes the fine aromatics of wines from this zone. He is now using more botte (Tonneaux) in his barrel mix. His wines possess intense complexity and aromatics resulting in ultra refined elegance.
