The Great Italian Wine Encounter Gala

The Calgary Health Trust and Vendemmia International Wines will be hosting a very rare semi-formal wine tasting encounter. The evening allows a one to one encounter with some very respected Italian Winemakers and their exceptional wines. Orchestrating this group of individuals from Italy, all in one room, for one spectacular evening, is a special lifetime event. These compassionate individuals are helping our community in the fight against Cancer. 14 winemakers, from all over Italy, will showcase their finest wines to a selected crowd of wine enthusiasts, in a stand up, engaging format. At the outset of the evening, each individual will receive a complimentary Riedel Crystal glass, to take home and allow you to enjoy tasting the exceptional selections being poured during the evening.
Large stand-up tables will host a variety of areas to sample interesting food and wine combinations and allow for free discussion. Each guest will receive a package that outlines the winemakers' accomplishments. In addition, the package will also include an explanation of the wine its' grape variety, composition, vinification processes, ageing and other interesting facts. This unique event allows the consumers to mingle and engage in dialogue with the winemakers about their wines and the areas in which they live and make wine. Meeting the winemaker, tasting the wines together, raising money to fight Cancer.
Over 50 different wines will be served during the evening. And will be accompanied by haut Canadian cuisine. A variety of food stations will be positioned around the ballroom to allow free movement to and from these areas with easy access to the winemaker and their display tables. There will be a wide selection of appetizers, main course foods, cheeses and fine deserts all prepared by The Palliser Hotel culinary team.
The evening will also will be raising money through an auction event allowing the patrons to bid on spectacular wine producer holidays, vintage and rare wines and other memorable items.

The evening will also be raising money through an auction event allowing patrons to bid on spectacular wine producer holidays, vintage and rare wines and other memorable items.
Proceeds of the event will be donated to the Apherisis Centre through the Calgary Health Trust.
Matt Kramer of Wine Spectator will be coming to this year's events.
